JNU Student Allegedly Raped By A Top AISA Leadership

According to the reports, a PhD student of Jawaharlal Nehru University, has been allegedly raped by one of the top All India Students Association (AISA) leaderships when she went to his room to copy a movie into her pen drive.

The FIR has been lodged and her statement under CrPC section 164 would be recorded, said the police.

According to the victim, when she asked about the movie to a few people on social networking site, the accused, who is an MPhil students, responded with asking her to collect it from him. The accused then sent a text message to the victim and asked her to come to copy a film onto a pen drive. The accused even visited her hostel and accompanied her to his room.

The victim said that he gave her a spiked drink and she fell unconscious after consuming it. When she came back in her senses she found the accused lying beside her. The victim added that he threatened to harm her if she revealed the matter to anyone.

The victim approached Vasant Kunj (north) police station and registered a complaint later that night. The victim had also went through the medical examination and the reports are still awaited. FIR under sections of rape and criminal intimidation has been registered against the youth.

Pramod Kumar, JNU registrar, said that they have not received a formal complaint from the woman or cops. He said, “I was unaware about the incident but will look into it.”

The members of the students council said that they are investigating the matter and AISA delhi state secretary Ashutosh Kumar, said, “We have taken serious note of the fact that a leading activist of AISA is facing a criminal complaint of sexual assault. He has been expelled from the primary membership.”
