Irom Sharmila Floats New Party To Contest Manipur Polls

The rights activist Irom Sharmila on Monday announced her new political party, People’s Resurgence Justice Alliance and declared that she will be contesting the Manipur Assembly Polls coming next year.

Irom Sharmila had stated that she wants to become the chief minister of Manipur and intends to float a new political party, when she broke her fast in August.

Breaking a 16-year long fast for demanding the repeal of Armed Forces Special Protection Act (AFSPA) and had said that she would demand the same by becoming the chief minister of the state.

She had also met Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) president and the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and sought his advice on how to defeat major political parties in her state. She had also said that she would want to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seek his advice on politics.
