US State Secretary Tells Sushma Swaraj Not To Escalate Talks With Pakistan: Reports

United States Secretary of State John Kerry has spoken to India’s External Affairs ministry Sushma Swaraj twice over two days and has urged not to escalate talks with Pakistan amid India is exploring is various actions to isolate Pakistan on global front.

According to the report published in a newspaper daily, Jon Kerry has spoken to Sushma Swaraj twice when Swaraj was in New York to address the United Nations General Assembly on Monday.

Reports said that this is the first time that US has spoken to India to a senior political level after the Uri Attack. Reports added that although there is election environment in US, the State Department is closely monitoring the developments in the subcontinent.

On Tuesday, India decided to pull out of this years SAARC summit, which was going to be held in Islamabad in November. Apart form India, Afghanistan, Bangaldesh and Bhutan along with Sri Lanka have expressed their solidarity with India after the Uri Attack and has boycotted the SAARC summit, which was announced canceled by the Pakistani officials. India have also reviewed the Indus Water Treaty as well as the Most Favored Nation tag to Pakistan, in recent days after the Uri Attack.

On Wednesday, during the daily press briefing, official spokesperson of State Department, Mark Toner said that US wants to see normalization between India and Pakistan and de-escalation of political discourse between the two countries.
