A Kuwait National For Funding ISIS Sympathizers in India

A man identified as Abdulla Hadi Abdul Rehman Al Enezi, was arrested in Kuwait for allegedly funding Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) by the help of a tip-off shared by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Reports said that NIA might travel to Kuwait for further questioning.

According to the reports, Al Enezi funded a Panvel-based man Areeb Majeed and four others in India. Areeb Majeed had joined ISIS in May 2014 but returned months later. He was later arrested by the investigative agency and has been prosecuted for several offenses.

While giving more details, Majeed said that when he and other four ISIS sympathizers were in Iraq early 2014, they had asked their handlers for some money. It was then that Al Enezi sent $1000 to them from Kuwait.

Reports said that the the NIA has asked the Kuwait authorities to crack Al Enezi and he was then interrogated and then arrested by the Kuwaiti security agencies. Reports added that the Kuwait officials told the NIA that Al Enezi has admitted sending money and funding various terrorist activities.

Trained as a suicide bomber, Majeed, a civil engineer, was the first Indian graduate from ISIS’ training schools as a fidayeen or suicide member. He told security agencies that he made three failed attempts of suicide bombing before he returned to India.
