Microsoft pledges support to Digital India

Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Singh Modi is getting huge response for his Digital India programme from all over the world. Now technology giant Microsoft also has joined the club. Microsoft’s Chief Satya Nadella on Friday met Modi and pledged support for the program. Besides PM, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad are the ones who are on the list.

Microsoft CEO called it as a courtesy visit and told that the US based company is ready to offer any kind of help from their side. Moreover, the company is very much interested in investing more in India.

“Make in India” and “Digital India” are our top priorities in every of our meet. We are working towards our contribution to India and to its business, added Satya. This is Satya Nadella’s second visit so far since he took over the position of CEO in February this year.

Finance Ministry sources acknowledged that the USD 86-billion multinational company is keen in investing in India. “Topics like initiatives of Digital India and to-do list in order to fill the spaces between haves and have-nots had come to discussion”. “India has a huge potential in the world of e-commerce and if companies like Microsoft helps us in connectivity, we will definitely have a better reach” says Minister.

We even asked them to work for digital literacy and notified them about the incentives for promoting electronic manufacturing in India as a part of Make in India.

On the other hand, Microsoft is ready to join the hands with the government to provide extra mile broadband connectivity, specifically through Wifi technology the reports said.
